Life West held its Women’s Premier League (WPL) home-opener Saturday as ORSU made its second trip to San Francisco in as many weeks. The Gladiatrix improved to 2-0 in the West Conference with a 55-5 win over the Jesters (0-2).

It was a pretty dominating performance from the home side, which saw fullback Leti Hingano score three tries on the day. Nicole Strasko, Jennifer Sever, Elizabeth Cairns, No. 8 Hope Rogers and Hali Deteres also scored, while wing Karmin Macedo added five conversions. A suppressive defense hampered ORSU’s ability to build phases, but the Jesters showed flashes of their capabilities. The team, which features several teenagers, forced a knock-on during one restart and then built pressure for back-to-back penalties. Play eventually ended in the hands of Riley Yoder, a WPL newcomer, for the corner try.

In Round 3, Life West plays 1-0 Berkeley in the first of two Bay Area battles. ORSU hosts San Diego, which lost 29-17 to Glendale Saturday.
