NCR Hiring Women’s Director of Rugby

National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) is looking to fill its Women’s Director of Rugby role, previously held by Bryn Chivers; details below:

POSITION OVERVIEW: Independent Contractor responsible for all aspects of managing the NCR Women’s Programs and Events.

REPORTS TO: CEO

MANAGES: Support staff

DUTIES

Shall include, but not limited to the following:

1. Establish, in coordination with the Eligibility Manager all rules, regulations and forms pertaining to player and club participation in all matches leading to and including the NCR playoffs for both 15s and 7s rugby.

2. Establish all regulations and protocols, such as checklists, relating to the operation and management of all NCR playoff matches.

3. Establish and manage both a 15s and 7s club national playoff system leading to a National Championship for all Divisions including, but not limited to, working with the NCR Manager of Events with venue selection (bid process); organization and management of the event (directly or through appointed NCR Representative); and media releases (before and after events).

4. Develop and manage all aspects of the NCR All Star 7s and 15s National Championship events, including assistance to Conferences in developing All Star teams.

5. Manage the selection process for the All-American and Academic All-American programs.

6. Manage the support needed for playoff events including the shipment of apparel and equipment, player medals, NCR banners, broadcast production, etc.

7. Manage the preparation of Welcome Packets for all playoff events and Programs for National Championships with graphic design support as needed.

8. Manage fulfillment of obligations to NCR sponsors at playoff events, including the coordination of sponsor banners.

9. Support the Marketing Director in the preparation of programs for National Championship events.

10. Request a Certificate of Insurance for all events naming the host/field owner as a Certificate Holder.

11. Support the CEO in the ordering of items required to support all events and recognition programs, such as trophies and medals, match balls and apparel (i.e. jerseys, t-shirts).

12. Prepare Playoff Brackets in coordination with Division Commissioners and participating

Conferences/Unions, as appropriate.

13. Manage the 15s Club National Rankings, both Weekly and End of Season, as appropriate.

14. Support the marketing department in the promotion of recognition programs, such as the Player of the Month, Student-Leader of the Month, Coach of the Month, etc. Select the POTM awardee.

15. Hire and manage support staff as needed.

16. Chair Open and Small College Division Competition Committees.

17. Communicate with local governing bodies, clubs and players as required for fulfillment of responsibilities.

18. Support the growth and development of existing small college rugby clubs.

19. Support the organizational needs of local governing bodies (Conferences and Unions).

20. Support NCR staff responsible for developing collegiate rugby at schools not presently offering rugby.

21. Develop an annual budget for approval.

22. Be responsible for all areas related to the development, communication and organization of small college rugby clubs per NCR goals and mission.

23. Be available for meetings in support of client, client activities, and NCR support.

24. Support NCR Marketing Director, as needed, to engage potential sponsors.

25. Engage key stakeholders, key college/university officials, union/league members and community members on behalf of NCR and/or NCR’s clients to report, provide insight and/or update on policies/programs.

26. Assist in the development of policies, statements, proposals, reports, etc. as required.

27. Maintain NCR and sponsor confidentiality in relation to current work and business strategy.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

● Ability to supervise support staff.

● Ability to apply budgeting and fiscal planning techniques within financial constraints.

● Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with Conference Commissioners,

Coaches, NCR Staff, elite athletes, media, and the public.

● Ability to market and promote NCR.

● Ability to communicate effectively and in a timely manner – orally, by phone, in person, and in writing.

● Ability to represent NCR in a professional manner.

● Ability to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the National Collegiate Rugby

Organization.

COMPENSATION

● Salary – to be negotiated.

● Expenses – reasonable travel expenses incurred during performance of duties.
