The following snippets relate to teams’ and leagues’ playing status this spring relative to Covid-19. For additional updates, follow #Covid2021.

University of Arizona Director of Rugby Sean Duffy created an intense Return-to-Play system that both the school and the players bought into. The men’s and women’s teams have had no positive Covid-19 cases since training began in the fall and anticipate being able to play spring 15s. The women play in the DI Pacific Desert conference, which includes three teams from Arizona, BYU in Utah, and the balance in Southern California. Read more from Tucson.com.

Red River Rugby Conference and Texas Rugby Union have delayed the start of the spring 15s season from Feb. 6 to March 27 due to Covid-19. But if the region hasn’t reached Stage 5 of Return to Play by March 1, then the season will be canceled and a regional tournament format will be pursued. Read the full update here.

The beauty of the New England Collegiate 7s Circuit (NEC7C) is it brings teams from different states, divisions and organizations together in an organized, competitive series; however, Covid-19 restricts this freedom. Last season, NEC7C held its first tournament in December, but it’s adjusting for 2021 (Facebook post):
